Autotour Deluxe Montevideo | Halve dag (4 uur). - Mijn man en ik werden door onze Nederlandse Gids "Lara" begeleid met de autotour van een halve dag in Montevideo.
Het klikte meteen met elkaar en onder het genot... read more van een kop koffie bij THE & LAB bespraken we de 'tour'.
Lara liet ons veel zien:
Plaza Zabala, Metropolitan cathedral, Plaza Constitución,
Plaza Independencia (onafhankelijkheidsplein), in het midden van dit plein is het graf van Artigas. Het Solis Theater en de presidentstoren liggen ook aan dit plein.
Met de Minivan met chauffeur, airco, wifi en minibar gingen we naar Intendencia (gemeentehuis Montevideo). Mooi uitkijkpunt op de 22ste etage van het gemeentehuis Intendencia. Vanuit de snelle glazen buiten-lift is het uitzicht al gelijk geweldig!!!
Palacio Legislativo, oftewel Paleis van Justitie, gelegen aan de Avenida de las Leyes. Het gebouw heeft 27 soorten marmer, uit Uruguayaanse steengroeven.
Voetbalstadion Centenario, het stadion is gebouwd voor het eerste wereldkampioenschap voetbal in 1930 en de viering van honderd jaar onafhankelijkheid van Uruguay, vandaar de naam Centenario.
Na alle bezienswaardigheden genoten we in de minibus van een lekkere "alfajor". Daarna gingen we héérlijk naar het strand Pocitos. Hét Copacabana van Montevideo. Lekker uitwaaien en genieten van de kustlijn.
Ook zagen we het: "Memorial al Holocausto del Pueblo Judio".
Het gedenkteken aan de Holocaust van het Joodse volk, is gewijd aan de slachtoffers van de Holocaust in de tweede Wereldoorlog.
Als afsluiting naar het "Parque Rodo".
Belangrijkste stadspark van Montevideo. Is door twee Franse architecten ontworpen.
Hier dronken we de Uruguayaanse thee Mate. En gaf Lara ons een demonstratie hoe Mate wordt gedronken.
Bij de haven "Mercado del Puerto", namen we afscheid van Lara.
Moe maar zéér voldaan liepen we terug naar ons cruiseschip.
Terugkijkend op een geweldige en indrukwekkende dag in Montevideo.
Dankzij Lara!!!!!
De autotour was voor ons een perfecte manier om Montevideo te ontdekken.

The bicycle tour is... read more great fun, not streneous at all, and takes you to all highlights of Montevideo. Lara for us also arranged a Dia de Campo on a great estate 30 minutes west of town. Next to horseback riding we enjoyed a nice beach and a swimming pool. High Tea was marvelous. Dinner even better. The delicious Tannat wine complemented the beautiful sunset over the sea.
