The bike tour is... read more It was great fun, not strenuous at all, and took us to all the highlights of Montevideo. Lara also arranged a Dia de Campo for us at a beautiful estate 30 minutes west of town. In addition to horseback riding, we enjoyed a lovely beach and a swimming pool. High Tea was marvelous. Dinner was even better. The delicious Tannat wine perfectly complemented the beautiful sunset over the sea.

Deluxe Montevideo Auto Tour | Half day (4 hours). - My husband and I were guided by our Dutch guide "Lara" on the half-day auto tour of Montevideo.
We clicked right away and while enjoying... read more a cup of coffee at THE & LAB, we discussed the 'tour'.
Lara showed us a lot:
Plaza Zabala, Metropolitan Cathedral, Plaza Constitución,
Plaza Independencia (Independence Square), in the middle of this square is the tomb of Artigas. The Solis Theater and the Presidential Tower are also on this square.
With the Minivan with driver, air conditioning, WiFi and minibar, we went to Intendencia (Montevideo City Hall). Beautiful viewpoint on the 22nd floor of the Intendencia city hall. The view from the fast glass exterior elevator is already amazing!!!
Palacio Legislativo, or Palace of Justice, located on Avenida de las Leyes. The building has 27 types of marble, from Uruguayan quarries.
Centenario Football Stadium, the stadium was built for the first World Cup in 1930 and the celebration of a hundred years of Uruguay's independence, hence the name Centenario.
After all the sights, we enjoyed a delicious "alfajor" in the minibus. Then we went to the lovely Pocitos beach. The Copacabana of Montevideo. A nice breath of fresh air and enjoy the coastline.
We also saw the: "Memorial al Holocausto del Pueblo Judio".
The memorial to the Holocaust of the Jewish people is dedicated to the victims of the Holocaust in the Second World War.
Finally, we went to "Parque Rodo".
Main city park of Montevideo. It was designed by two French architects.
Here we drank the Uruguayan tea Mate. And Lara gave us a demonstration of how Mate is drunk.
At the harbor "Mercado del Puerto", we said goodbye to Lara.
Tired but very satisfied, we walked back to our cruise ship.
Looking back on a wonderful and impressive day in Montevideo.
