Lara Droogleever Fortuyn, MSc

Founder and guide. When she came to Uruguay in 2014 with her Argentinean husband and two children, she was immediately hooked. So much space and untouched nature gave her an intense sense of freedom. She started writing as a freelance journalist about life in Uruguay. As a political scientist, she was especially interested in socio/political issues. She blogged for the Dutch magazine LINDA and writes for the online, Dutch language magazine on Latin America, La Chispa. As she learned more and more about Uruguay, Lara found out that this little country has countless hidden treasures. Hidden, because Uruguay still remains untouched by the rush of most modern cities. Lara wanted to make Uruguay accessible for everyone and let them explore like locals. That's how Touruguay was born. To create the ultimate tour experiences, she spent countless days wandering the city - accompanied by a private history teacher - to learn about its history and architecture. She has thoroughly researched and visited all of Montevideo’s tourist attractions. Nowadays, she knows Montevideo inside and out and passionately shares her knowledge. Years ago, she graduated with a degree in Hospitality Management and the hospitality industry is still running through her veins. She welcomes her guests like no other.
