Hiking

Cerro de las Ánimas

Cerro de las Animas' - the second highest hill in Uruguay - is a beautiful hill 501 metres above sea level. The place is known as an absolute highlight in Uruguay. During the hike we will hike to the top. We will pass small natural lakes between the rocks and enjoy the most beautiful views. The hike takes about 5 hours, including breaks. We take enough time in between to recharge. The hike goes along a clearly marked path with a gentle slope. As the hike is quite long, a good physical condition is required.

Cerro Betete

Cerro Betete' is a very surprising and relatively unknown hill with an altitude of 405 metres. The walk starts on a path with a slight incline, for about one and a half kilometres. After this, the slope is a little steeper and we walk along an open path through a dense indigenous forest that leads to a rocky area. The hike is experienced as a very, very nice ride by the participants. The tour has a length of 5.6 km and takes about 4 hours, including breaks. We take enough time in between to recharge. The level is moderate-intensive.

Cerro Pan de Azúcar

The 'Pan de Azúcar' is Uruguay's most prominent hill, standing 389 metres tall. The iconic 35 metre high concrete cross on the summit is unmistakable. You can climb the cross up to its "arms" via a spiral staircase with 111 steps. Reaching the top and climbing the cross is a truly unique experience! At the foot of the hill there is a nature reserve with a zoo with various indigenous animal species. The walk is about 4 kilometres and takes about 2 hours (1 hour there and 1 hour back). At some parts, the slope is quite steep, which requires a certain amount of stamina. The level is moderately intensive.

Cerro del Toro

The 'Cerro del Toro' has an altitude of 250 metres. The walk is beautiful and relatively short and easy. The climbing path is very well marked, although there are a few spots where you have to be a bit careful, as it can be slippery there. In the beginning, the hike has a slight incline, which becomes milder and milder. After about half an hour you reach the beautiful peaks that offer a spectacular view of the city of Piriápolis like a balcony. The total duration of the walk is 1 hour (half an hour there and half an hour back).

CERRO DE LOS BURROS - Hiking tours

Cerro de los Burros

Cerro de los Burros' is a real classic. The hill has a height of 170 metres and a gentle slope, which makes the tour suitable for all target groups. We walk to the top via a well-marked path. On the way back, we pass by a beautiful statue of a virgin, to which an interesting story belongs. The views from the top of 'Playa Verde', 'Pan de Azúcar' and the rest of the surroundings are truly breathtaking. Total time to walk is about 80 minutes (40 min. there and 40 min. back).
